Quorthon often played live wearing meat and bones around their necks and even played once at a vegetarian party, needless to say, that went down well. Their first gig was at The Club on Ulster Street in Hamilton, as part of a Hamilton Deathfest in 1992, along with such bands as Sinfeeder. Were interviewed for a New Zealand music program the same night backstage after the gig. That interiew, unfortunately, never saw the light of day.

Quorthon

Quorthon was founded in Hamilton in 1992 by Ben Thomas (drums, vocals), Simon Saunders (bass) and Sean McGlynn (guitar, vocals), although members changed until their demise in 1995. A new vocalist was recruited a few months into 1992, but was fired after a Sepultura video tape went missing. McGlynn resumed as vocalist at this time.

Quorthon played extremely heavy and slow bowel rumbling metal inspired by a medical dictionary's description of constipation and it's ailments. The band were often found supporting Sinfeeder at seedy Hamilton venues and once played Napier. Quorthon often played live wearing meat and bones around their necks.

The bands first gig was at The Club as part of a Hamilton Deathfest in 1992, along with bands such as Sinfeeder. They were interviewed for a New Zealand music program the same night backstage after the gig, but this interview never aired.

They recorded a demo cassette titled Bestial Cavemen in 1992, and the next year released Extreme Constipation on Side A of a vinyl 7" in 1993; Sinfeeder had their output on Side B.
