Shearer's Music Works was established in 1963 as Andy Shearer's Music Store by Andy and Rowena Shearer. Andy had previously worked for Begg's. The store first opened in 548 Victoria St, but moved to 313 Victoria St in the early 1970s. The store later moved to larger premises in Garden Place, and in 1988 to an even larger shop 380 Anglesea Street, where it is still found.
The store stocks amplifiers, basses, drums, educational music DVD's and videos, guitars, harmonicas, keyboards and pianos, percussion instruments, print music, sound systems and lighting, stringed instruments, ukuleles, woodwind and brass instruments.
