Founding member Kat Waswo left the band in late 2018, leaving the band as a two-piece. On 15 March 2019, the duo supported Australian band ''Regurgitator'' at Whammy Bar, Auckland. Soon after they changed their name to ''Empress''.

Cheshire Grimm logo

Cheshire Grimm was formed in mid-2012, with their first gig at the Down the Rabbit Hole event that year. They subsequently played and toured frequently in New Zealand and also in Australia. Their first single 'Sinn' charted to number 3 on theaudience.co.nz wildcard and number 13 on Australia's Triple J Unearthed. They went on to release the singles 'Poppy' and 'Rot', before releasing their self titled debut E.P. in February 2015.
