Originally hailing from Te Awamutu, ''Dean Ballinger'' (a.k.a. ''Dirk Thrust'') has served most notably as the drummer for the [[Hollow Grinders]] and [[Mobile Stud Unit]]. He was also singer for punk/new wave covers band [[The Readers' Wives]], the brains behind [[Lumiere]], cartoonist extraordinaire. Used to co-host morning radio show on [[Contact]] 89FM and [[UFM]], alongside [[Greg Page]]. Following a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, the compilation [[In Thrust We Trust]] was released in 2020 to raise fund for Dean and his family.
