Needle in the Hay was a store located at 300a Racquet Lane, off Barton St, which opened in 2016. Run by Kate Woodcock, the store stocked vinyl records, primarily new/unused, as well as assorted 'knick-knacks'. It was in the space of a former panel-beater. To celebrate 'World Record Store Day' 2018 (21 April), they held a gig in store featuring Kitchenette, The Halcyon Birds, Matthew Bannister and Landlords.
The store closed in 2023, with Fossick opening in its place.
