Ruin were a "doom metal" band formed in late 2001 and featured Julian Baddie (guitar; formerly of Thunder Monkey and Swamp Goblin), Phil (guitar), Matt Bulldozer (bass) and Dane (drums; ex-Enshrine and Sinfeeder). All except Bulldozer had previously been in Masochrist. In 2001 they released an EP titled Extreme Volume Demanded. The song None of the Bells and Whistles was released on the They Came from out of Nowhere compilation. Prior to breaking up, Dane was replaced by Brian Jacobson on drums. In 2003, with the addition of several new members, the band evolved into D'Maskus.
