Downbeat Studio was set by Daniel Howard in 2001, as part of Click Sound. The studio was built from scratch in a warehouse in Frankton.
During its period of production, between 2001 and 2005, bands recording there included: The Datsuns, Cornerstone Roots, Daisy Chain Halo, Dead Pan Rangers, Rumpus Room, Nimbus, DateMonthYear, Brilleaux, World War Four, Chuganaut, Apollo, eightyeight.
The studio also mastered the Year Zero and Zero Point One compilations, and many other albums.
Engineers using the studio included Daniel Howard, Scott Newth, with the Datsuns, Rumpus Room and Daisy Chain Halo, and Chris Field with Apollo.
In late 2005, the studio was shut down.
