Emma Amiri-Ghaemmaghamy released her first song Look Around, written at the age of ten, on the 2000 compilation The Present. In 2004, she made the top 10 of the Play it Strange National Secondary Schools Songwriting Competition with her song Soon, while a student at Fairfield College. As a result, the song was included on the 2004 compilation Play It Strange Top 20 Volume 1.
Emma moved to Auckland in 2011, where she formed the hard rock band Static Era, and in 2015 moved to Washington DC.
