During the late '80s and early '90s Gillian Woods was one half of the duo Sour Grapes, along with Ross Holloway of Two White Eyes, Alchemist, and Pregnant Hippies.

She also played in Jam Sandwich between 1990 and 1991 with Stan Jagger, Chris Paki, Adam Hyde and Greg Locke, and appeared as a backing vocalist on the Book of Martyrs album Purified Seven Times in 1991. Most of these projects were documented by Orange Recordings at some point or another.

During the 1990s Gillian went to Wellington, where she married Mark Henderson and formed the project Henderwood. Between 2002 and 2003 Henderwood were also based in Hamilton, with other Hamiltonian members. Gillian and Mark have since returned to Wellington.
