Orientation or "O-Week" is a start of year festival at each of the Universities across New Zealand encompassing music, art, performance, social events and more. Through the 1990s, the universities worked together to book co-ordinated tours of both local and international acts via a booking conference at the end of the previous year.
At The University of Waikato the festival has been run since the 1960s. In the 1990s, events was organised by the WSU Activities Manager until 1997 when the WSU restructured and responsibility for the festival passed to the Campus Union Board - a joint venture company involving the University and the WSU. Activities Managers at The University of Waikato included Nasrudin Ukrainec ('Nas') (1990 - 1993), Sue Campbell (c. 1993 - 1995) and Clinton Swan (1995 - 1997).
