Bitumus were a hard rock group fronted by Julz Cairney (guitar, vocals), initially with Darryl Monteith (ex-Whisperscream; drums), Richard Jones (guitar) and Grant Hislop (bass). Hislop and Monteith were eventually replaced by Munro Goodwin (bass) and Dean Fisher (drums). This lineup released an EP "When I want to Drown" independently in April 1996 with a release party at Down Under Bar. The track also appeared on the 1996 compilation In Love With This Town. Munro Goodwin went on to Chuganaut.
