Aether was formed in April 2004 by two old high school friends, Nathan Bregmen (drums) and Ashwin Singh (bass), along with Hayden Tauroa (vocals) and Gareth Bradley (guitar; ex-Vetox).
They have performed regularly in Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga bars, have played radio live-to-air sessions, and slots in larger local events such as the Vampyres' Ball, the Pagan Festival and the Nightbreed Festival. In September 2005 Aether released their first studio recording, Chapter 9: Swearing In as a radio-only single, and released an EP titled Falling Tree in 2007 before breaking up. The band had their final gig at Ward Lane on 10 March 2007.
As a sign off, the band has recorded a bunch of their tracks acoustically, which are being produced by R William Murphy.
