The Clap were are surf-skate punk band from the early 1990s, featuring Steve Hynsey (bass), Mark Brightwell (drums) and Martin Barnes (guitar, vocals), who evolved from jazz funk band Chaos. They began by playing covers by the likes of Dead Kennedys, the Cult and Sex Pistols, but gradually replaced these with originals. They released a cassette, Clunkfuzz in 1992, which were all originals except for one Fugazi cover. They had the track Troppo on They came to take us alive and another on HUM sampler.
