The Scones (rhyming with 'cons') are an Auckland/Hamilton based, Flying Nun influenced indie-pop band, fronted by guitarist Julian White (guitar, vocals). They played their first gig in October 2012 at Static. Several early demo recordings were released on Soundcloud prior to this gig. Their debut EP, ‘The Trouble with Thompson’, was recorded in January 2015 and is to be released on 28 March 2016.
The band can trace its origins back to the 1980s, when White and guitarist Greg Edwards attended high school together, at Northcote College, Auckland; the two were in a band together at the time called Limited Western Art, and played together later while at University in Auckland in Yorkie the Bricklayer.
