Rubita is a music project of Rachel Kibblewhite (vocal and electric guitar), formed in mid-2015. Kibblewhite grew up in Hamilton. Prior to forming Rubita, she attended the University of Otago, undertaking a degree in composition and performance; on completion of this degree she returned to Hamilton. She had played in a number of bands previously, including Cinco. Her Rubita band includes cousin Luke Kibblewhite (saxophone), as well as Seth Clement (drums) and Hon Man (bass). On 26 September 2016, Rubita released an EP titled Brutal Yet Dulce Soap.
Kibblewhite left Hamilton for Wellington in early-2019. In September 2020, she released her debut album, Distinctive Thrill.
