Tim Armstrong band formed in 1986 from The Politicians to play resident at Zaks Nitepub, Hamilton. After the residency they played at Roxoff and then moved on to the Forge Niteclub in Papakura.Going overseas they changed the name of the band to The Kiwi Bandits which lasted for several years before changing back to The Tim Armstrong band.

Tim Armstrong won the 'best waikato male vocalist' award
1993 at the Rock 93 FM Waikato Rock Awards. The band also won the 'best recorded work' award with the song My New House.
