As strange as it seems now, Downstairs Oranga was a popular venue on campus in the early to mid-1990's. In 1993 it went under the name Club Uni. It later became a failed McDonald's franchise; the WSU at the time (see comment under Wailing Bongo) believed this would provide cheap food for students. It was briefly used as a venue once again in the mid 2000s, and is now (as of 2006) a food hall which actually does provide good cheap food for students.
