AVOTOR were formed in Auckland in mid-1998 by ex-Hamiltonians H.Walker and Bevis Langman Painter (both formerly of Genitus Lung). Painter left AVOTOR in 2004 and was replaced by Tamlyn Martinovich, also formerly of Genitus Lung.
AVOTOR have released two albums, Looming on KOG Transmissions in 1999 and Billion on their own label Midium Records in 2003, an EP in 2001 called Illooming with alternative versions of tracks from Looming, and two singles. In 2004 and 2005 they played shows in New Zealand, Latvia, Germany, Poland, Belgium, UK, and The Netherlands.
