Bloodwreath was originally formed in late 2000 by Jamie Saint Merat and Michael Hoggard (both ex-Misled by Lies and Convulse), together with the addition of vocalist Mark Seeney (ex-Misled by Lies, Daredevil). This line-up remained intact during 2001. In early 2002 several line-up changes took place, with the addition of guitarist Jared Commerer, while Seeny left the band and was replaced by James Wallace. This line-up recorded the four songs of their first release, but they changed their name to Ulcerate. The band are now based in Auckland.
