Hamilton "alternative" covers band with a near residency at the Ward Lane Tavern in the early '90s. Original line-up from late '91/early '92 was formed during the death-throes of Book of Martyrs and The Haunting; featuring Jonathan Armstrong of Book of Martyrs and Watershed on vocals; Paul Oakley (also recently of Book of Martyrs) on bass; along with The Haunting's Wheels and Paul Tregilgas on guitar and drums respectively.

Then-legendary guitarist Wheels left for the UK later in '92 and was replaced by soon-to-become-legendary guitarist Stan Jagger of Book of Martyrs, Pregnant Hippies and Mudpeople fame. Another one-time Pregnant Hippy by the name of Chris Paki later joined the group on guitar and vocals when Jonny moved to Wellington to team up with former members of Watershed. This line-up eventually started writing and recording original material around '93, but disbanded a short time afterwards.

Hapukalypse Now was the first band to feature the now notorious trio of Paul Oakley, Paul T and Stan Jagger. Following the band's split in 1993, both Oakley and Paul T joined Stan's other band King Biscuit, and all three have since gone on to play together as members of Trucker, Johnny Fist, and more recently Disjecta Membra - besides the many other groups they've each played in individually. Chris Paki meanwhile went on to play with Fallen, Raleigh 20, Rumpus Room, MSU and others.
