Illegal Green was a high school band, who won a Waikato Battle of the Bands compeition sometime in the 1980s. The band included Jacob Nooyen (vocals) who went on to be the winemaker at Vilagrad Winery. They released one 'double A side' single, featuring the songs Mary Mary and Why Don't You Want Me. Both appear on the 2015 compilation Hamiltune - Rockin' the Tron in the 80's, released following a fire at Vilagrad Winery.
