In 1990, Highlights was the only venue for Hamilton's "alternative" scene. Located in Commerce St in Frankton, it was run by Tony Davys of Cygnet Committee. During its tenure as Highlights bar, Ray Stroud and Cookie (of EMI, Tracs) set up Ziggy's, a Thursday night RnB club. On Friday's it served as a gay nightclub called Taurus.

In 1991 the venue became Rockafellas.
