Based on a farm in Kihikihi, between 1995 and 1996 the Widdershins were made up of former Dunedin Puddle members, Jenny Cook (vocals, guitar, bass, organ) and Ross Jackson (bass, guitar). Widdershins were initially joined on drums by Clayton Noone (of various Plop Recordings projects), who was later replaced by Stan Jagger. Biff Bangle then joined the band, from which point he and Stan took turns swapping on guitar and drums. Jenny and Ross meanwhile swapped between bass and guitar, and another vocalist Nicola Walsh (also of Gas) was with the band in 1995.

The Widdershins released the songs Comfort Woman on The Fridge and Hellbound on In Love With This Town.

Ross Jackson has since returned to The Puddle (now based in Wellington?) who have since 1983 released many albums (mostly on Flying Nun).
