A natural ampitheatre with a permanent wooden stage is situated on the eastern side of Hamilton's Lake Rotoroa, beneath the somewhat iconic water tower. This venue has hosted a number of Shake the Lake and Carols by Candlelight events, and several open air film screenings. Access to the power and facilities is organised through the Hamilton City Council.

On the western side of the lake, Innes Common was home to entertainment surrounding the annual Balloons Over Waikato festival, and has been the site of 9 Bands For No Bucks and a performance by Boney M in 1994.
