Hamilton Caledonian Society's Pipe Band 1966

The Hamilton Caledonian Society's Pipe Band, otherwise known as The Cales, was formed in 1925. The band competes nationally, and performs at Civic Functions, International Rugby matches, Sporting Parades, Christmas Parades, Race meetings, Special Olympics, University and Polytechnic Graduations, Concerts and other engagements. The current playing membership in excess of 50, and play as two separate competing bands.

The Society purchased its first practice rooms, Caledonian Hall, at 146 Grey Street, Hamilton East in 1962. Due to their dwindling membership, and complaints from residents about noise, the hall was sold in 1986. In 1990 the Society moved to their current premises, at 86 High Street, Frankton.
