Richard Swainson
Dr Richard John Swainson gained his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Waikato in 1996 with his thesis on 'The Vietnam combat film as a contemporary genre'. He then went on to manage the Cambridge Road branch of Video Ezy for the next decade. Many cite this as the reason behind his nickname "Dr Ezy", but of course other theories abound. Richard's film reviews have graced the pages of Nexus, the radio waves of Tainui & Contact FM, and the television screens of Big TV and Regional Prime. Until 2006, Richard played host to the Cambridge Road Guy Fawkes Party.
2007 looks to be Dr Ezy's most exciting year professionally as he heads the Film Society and has opened the specialist art-house DVD rental store 'Auteur House', above Mark One Comics and Games, which also stocks film-related books-for-sale sourced overseas.
