Volunteer Hall in Hamilton East was used by the Waikato Rifle Volunteers Band in 1872, and existed until at least 1877.
Another Volunteer Hall, in Knox Street, was later opened at the end of 1881, becoming the towns main hall. It was financed by a church fete, government subsidy and public subscription. This hall burnt down in the 1890s.
