Te Rapa Racecourse was the venue for the National Banjo Pickers' Convention twice in the 1960s. A maor concert was held there on 27 January 1973, featuring Slade, Status Quo, Caravan, Blackfeather and Lindisfarne. The venue also hosted the Mockers on 21 April 1984. It is the venue for meetings of the Hamilton Jazz Society.
