Party in the Plaza

The Party in the Plaza was a council-sponsored concert held in the Civic Plaza, the concreted area between Garden Place and the City Council on Saturday the 21st of December, 2002. There were questions raised prior to the event that the expected influx of teenagers to the CBD would not only result in increased violence and theft, but that also the plaza itself would collapse into the underground carpark below.
These fears were not realised, as only approximately 200 people attended the afternoon show.
