Daisy Chain Halo began life in Wellington, New Zealand in 1998. Born when post-grunge underdogs Porch split due to the usual “differing musical directions”, founding members Carl Watkins and Corinna Watts decided to go it alone and create what would become their pioneering larger-than-life heavy acoustic sound.

Having shed their electric skin the band, now with ex-Pushkin drummer BJ Hiha, felt they needed to make a career move and relocate to somewhere more central and closer to NZ’s largest city – Auckland. Although they had never been there previously, they settled on the Rock City of NZ - Hamilton - moving at the beginning of 2000.

Between then and now Daisy Chain Halo have had 2 Wellington drummers come and go including ex-Porch pal Ben Chapman, have won both the Band Experiments and Battle of the Bands competitions, and toured Melbourne, Australia to rave responses. Waikato resident and jazz whiz Luke Hale entered the picture in June of 2002 after meeting Carl through a social soccer team. The legend of DCH began in true rock’n’roll fashion with a chance meeting at the Hamilton Rock Shop where Luke marched directly up to Corinna and Carl and informed them, without even a perfunctory greeting, that he WOULD be their drummer. He was right, of course.

The band have never looked back since and consider that Luke is the final ingredient they needed to pursue their dreams as international artists. They continue to play ever-increasing numbers of shows throughout NZ and are currently working on their debut album with engineer extraordinaire and friend Scott “Sonic” Newth, whom they also share with Hamilton’s own The Datsuns. DCH are in the planning stages of their first ever UK tour and will release their first single in NZ early in 2004 with a tour to follow.
