Cranium Music were stockists and distributors of psychedelic music of all eras. Cranium began as a mail-order operation run by Richard Stockwell in March 1996. They also had a small display in Nonesuch Books, which occupied three different locations on the eastern side of Victoria Street in the mid to late 1990s. During this time Cranium Music ran a specialist late night show on Contact FM.

With the closure of Nonesuch, Cranium Music opened its own store on State Highway 1 near Ngaruawahia. Because of its success, the label was a finalist in the 1999 TradeNZ export e-commerce awards. However, the business closed down in 2004.

Many of Cranium's releases can be found in the Hamilton Public Library.
