Jenny Morris
Jennifer "Jenny" Patricia Morris OAM (born 29 September 1956 in Tokoroa) is a pop, rock singer-songwriter. Although born in Tokoroa, Jenny grew up in Hamilton with three brothers and four sisters (including Shanley Del), and attended Hamilton Girls High School (1970-1973). Her first professional performance was at age fifteen, at Andersons Theatre Restaurant, in Hamilton. In 1976 she became a singer with Auckland band How's Your Father, who were finalists in the 'National Battle of the Bands' (eventually coming second to Th' Dudes).
After moving to Wellington, she joined an all-girl group Wide Mouthed Frogs in 1978. Her first real success came with The Crocodiles, active between 1979 and 1981, who had a top 20 hit single with "Tears". With The Crocodiles, she played a concerts in Hamilton at Skateworld on 6 and 19 December 1980. She moved to Sydney in 1981, and was initially a backing vocalist for various groups including INXS. She went on to a successful solo career. She played in Hamilton at The Metropole as a member of The Party Boys (feat. Dave Dobbyn and others) on 27 April 1984.
