Duchess formed in Auckland in late 2004, and comprised ex-Handsome Geoffrey members Anna Coddington (guitar), Janna Hawkins (bass) and Aidee Walker (keyboards), with the addition of drummer Jonny Corker (ex-Rubicon); Walker moved from drums to keyboards with his addition. The band featured a heavier, noiser sound than they had in Handsome Geoffrey. Duchess released one self-titled EP in 2005, and disbanded in 2006. In 2007, their "Raglan City" video won the "Best Indie Video" award at the 2007 Juice TV Awards.
